The Monday Morning Teaser

Two very hard-hitting articles about Israel appeared this week. One in The Atlantic described the conflict within the government about Netanyahu’s strategy in Gaza, in particular the lack of any day-after plan and how that makes the military’s job nearly impossible. Another in the NYT lays out the decades-long history of the Israeli government turning a blind eye to crimes against Palestinians by West Bank settlers, and how the one-time radicals of that movement have become the establishment. I’ll describe the two in a featured post with an uncreative title: “Two Significant Articles about Israel”.

That should be out shortly.

A second featured post is considerably less heavy. Like everybody else, I decided to weigh in on Harrison Butker’s commencement address to Benedictine College in Kansas. I am not calling for his cancellation, because I don’t want the Colin Kaepernick fiasco to become the standard for judging outspoken athletes. That post will be called “Wide Right: That kicker’s commencement speech”. It’s also mostly done and shouldn’t take that long to get out.

In the weekly summary, I’m going to avoid a lengthy discussion of the Trump trial, because there’s not that much to say: A lot hangs on what the jury is making of Michael Cohen, and there’s just no way to know. There’s also the Alito flag incident and a few other things to cover. That should be out by noon.

The judge unlawfully donated to Biden and chose not to reveal his bias. It’s on his record to be used later against him once he first fails in this huge election interference and will be sued later once new department of Justice and AG has been appointed by Trump.

it is obvious the Cohen convicted lier on his stupid own fell for a hookers blackmail paying himself thinking in his stupid mind he would be selected for job in the White House.

Trump never screwed this hooker who was stalking him and would never have paid or ordered to pay her but was kind of reimbursing Cohen but to keep him on a leash he paid in pieces and had of course nothing to do with drop down menus and accounting.

Karma will get the prosecutor judge and his daughter all biased and full of hate

Wow,…that’s an alternate reality that I’d never considered before you brought it up. I’ll have to think about it.

This is what MAGA-cult media does to someone’s brain. The distortion and outright fabrication of reality in order to achieve these conclusions are why, in many countries, those broadcasting them are held accountable. Civil fraud charges seem like a good place to start.

How would civil fraud charges work?

Any chance you can provide a source for the concept of an “unlawful donation”?

Far right media companies are selling information they know is factually untrue to consumers who are relying on the intentional lies as being truthful, and, as the fourth estate enjoys the broadest latitude imaginable, it also therefore has the responsibility to not knowingly lie to its consumers, as there is a premise of truth that comes with the protections of the class of “press”, but the latitude is not limitless, and there must be some sort of ability of government to address when consumers are being defrauded by the product of information presented as factually true, but known to be lies when delivered.

If Dominion Voting Systems can sue Fox News for knowingly lying about its products because of the damage done to DVS, and win, why can’t the government sue for the damage done to it citizens that are the result of the same intentional lying? What do you think is driving the pronounced division in this country between those living in a reality-based world and those living in MAGAland? These people have been sold what they’ve been told is the truth, when those selling have known all along it’s lies.
